Stellify, a solo exhibition of work at Oink Gallery, Swindon
I'm really looking forward to what should be a great evening and exhibition of work at Mark Pepperall's Oink Gallery in Swindon.
I met Mark a little over a decade ago, through our shared love of Stanley Donwood's work, and we've been friends ever since. Oink Gallery, named after Mark's home town, Swindon or Swine Town, remains a beacon of creativity, modernity and style in the South West, blending art and design in a really vibrant contemporary space in the heart of the old town.
I'm looking forward to the opening event from 7pm, Thursday 17th April, hope to see you there!
Spike Island Open Studios, from 6pm Friday 2nd May 2025
Spike Island is pleased to present Open Studios 2025, the hugely popular annual event offering free behind the scenes access to our 80,000 square foot arts space.
From 2—4 May, fans of art, culture and design are invited to see the expansive network of artist studios, galleries, and creative businesses that inhabit the former tea-packing factory, as well as the working studios of UWE Fine Arts programmes and award-winning Spike Print Studio, the largest open-access print studio in the South West.
Balla, a sketch study for a new animated drawing
I've got a few sketches of work in progress to share here. These are early days sketches of a new process I'm developing, partially although not entirely in response to the RWA's Paper Work Biennial. I wanted to revert back to using graphite and pencil as the basis for a study, which I pretty much always do, but instead of abandoning that work at what I might call the 'fag packet' stage, I wanted to push through and complete a fully realised drawing as a more complex understudy for a new work, Balla.

Flow 8VO
Flow 8VO is a new digital screen art piece utilising a redrawn version of my 2007 ‘Flow’ geometry. This new study adds time and motion, to create a durational kinetic artwork for screen display. The work sequences eight individually rendered 40 second movements, with twenty eight 40 second transitional phases, to create a 24 minute sequence, that loops seamlessly.
