10 colour digital printer arrives... or the Kraken awakes

Hello! I thought I'd post a little news, to let you know what's going on here in the studio. Things seem to be changing quite rapidly, in some quite interesting ways. The biggest change is certainly the arrival of a new ten colour digital printer.

It's a really huge digital printing machine, that not only offers the traditional 4 colour set - cyan, magenta, yellow and black - but augments that with orange, green, violet and extra greys, all of which can be combined to offer 99% of the Pantone spot colour ink set. The paper size can be up to 44 inches wide, by a staggering 10 metres long. Amazing!

As you can see from the photo, it arrived packed in a huge shipping case, into my currently unrefurbished lean to Victorian conservatory, which lost all of its glass in WWII when a bomb landed next door. But that's a story for another day...

I'm really looking forward to getting stuck into running some colour tests, proof prints, and so forth over the coming weeks. Not least of which will be the next 2 editions for my Experimental Print Club, which I'm going to send concurrently, as I feel I’m a little behind!

Assuming I don't have some kind of damascene moment, edition 4 will be a set of six prints, a 'sextet', each one a 'partial component' from my recent DMG / millefiori work. I haven't decided how to set them yet, but in essence, I hope they'll make a really intriguing new work to greet the Spring / Summer. I'm hoping they'll be in the post in the next fortnight or so...

If you’d like to become a member of the Print Club, a subscription costs £30 GBP a month. I’ll then post you 4 (ish) intriguing / beautiful / experimental / exclusive new editions each year.

The idea is to create a self funding experimental side project, to test ephemeral new print ideas, that may then transfer to my main studio practice, and hopefully create some fabulous new print work along the way...

The club is powered online, and you can sign up online, here - https://chuckelliott.com/experimental-print-club-list-01
